Ukrainian

Ukrainian is a Slavic language most closely related to Russian and Belarusian. It is an official language in Ukraine, although Russian is still prevalent in many parts of the country.
Modern Ukrainian is written with a modified Cyrillic script. Although the Ukrainian-speaking community in Australia is small, language maintenance is an important goal and is taught in community language schools around the country. It is taught at one Australian university.
