Middle Eastern Languages

The term “Middle East” refers to the region centred on Western Asia and northeast Africa. The major nations traditionally considered to be part of the region include Egypt, Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran and Saudi Arabia. These nations play a significant role in world religions such as Christianity, Islam and Judaism, and as such, the languages used in these areas include languages of religious significance as well as language which are markers of geographical and cultural identity.
